Today I want to share a reflection with you about insults!
Have you ever felt insulted by a person or a situation? Probably yes, right? And how you react when it happens?
I remember a lot of times when I felt outraged by a insult and tried to respond in the same way. Not a good idea!
Our first response to a insullt, most of the time, its to fell offended or try to pay back, but today I want to help you to change your response to it!
Sunday, my pastor shared this Word with the church, so I decided to bring this topic up, to help us change our perspective about some affronts that we may be suffering in our lives now. Look what happens in Isaiah 36:
“In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them. 2 Then the king of Assyria sent his field commander with a large army from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. When the commander stopped at the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field, 3 Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder went out to him.
4 The field commander said to them, “Tell Hezekiah:
“‘This is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: On what are you basing this confidence of yours? 5 You say you have counsel and might for war—but you speak only empty words. On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me? 6 Look, I know you are depending on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff, which pierces the hand of anyone who leans on it! Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him. 7 But if you say to me, “We are depending on the Lord our God”—isn’t he the one whose high places and altars Hezekiah removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, “You must worship before this altar”?
8 “‘Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them! 9 How then can you repulse one officer of the least of my master’s officials, even though you are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen[a]? 10 Furthermore, have I come to attack and destroy this land without the Lord? The Lord himself told me to march against this country and destroy it.’”
The people were affronted by the king of Assyria. Sennacherib not only affronted Judah, but he also try to undermine their hope of help, even from the Lord:
“Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’ Have the gods of any nations ever delivered their lands from the hand of the king of Assyria? 19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand? 20 Who of all the gods of these countries have been able to save their lands from me? How then can the Lord deliver Jerusalem from my hand?”
How many times have you heard similiar words about your situation? “Nobody will help you, the Lord will not come for you, otherwise, He would have already done it” or “you probably are doing something wrong, that is why you are in this situation” ?
There will be situations when people will try to tell you what to do, instead of wait for the Lord’s help, hurrying you up. I heard it many times: “Why are you doing nothing? You should be doing that” or “you are not trying hard enough!”( But the Lord was telling me to wait for his intervention)
The people of Judah was being threated and insulted. The king was trying to take away all their hope in the Lord, comparing Him to the other gods who were defeated!
The enemy do the same thing with us: He tries to convince us to run to others “gods” or to trust in human help to get us out of a hopeless situation, whispering in our ears: God will not help you like you think, you need to act! Do something!
However, when Hezekiah heard about the affront, he decided to run to the only One who could deliver them from their hopeless situation, :
“When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the Lord. 2 He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz. 3 They told him, “This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the moment of birth and there is no strength to deliver them. 4 It may be that the Lord your God will hear the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule the living God, and that he will rebuke him for the words the Lord your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives.”
Instead of surrender the kingdom to the King of Assyria, letting desperation take control, he ran to the temple, seeking for the Presence of God, crying out for His help! This is what the Lord answered, after he humiliated himself before Him:
“Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, 22 this is the word the Lord has spoken against him:
“Virgin Daughter Zion
despises and mocks you.
Daughter Jerusalem
tosses her head as you flee.
23 Who is it you have ridiculed and blasphemed?
Against whom have you raised your voice
and lifted your eyes in pride?
Against the Holy One of Israel!
24 By your messengers
you have ridiculed the Lord.
And you have said,
‘With my many chariots
I have ascended the heights of the mountains,
the utmost heights of Lebanon.
I have cut down its tallest cedars,
the choicest of its junipers.
I have reached its remotest heights,
the finest of its forests.
25 I have dug wells in foreign lands[c]
and drunk the water there.
With the soles of my feet
I have dried up all the streams of Egypt.’
26 “Have you not heard?
Long ago I ordained it.
In days of old I planned it;
now I have brought it to pass,
that you have turned fortified cities
into piles of stone.
27 Their people, drained of power,
are dismayed and put to shame.
They are like plants in the field,
like tender green shoots,
like grass sprouting on the roof,
scorched[d] before it grows up.
28 “But I know where you are
and when you come and go
and how you rage against me.
29 Because you rage against me
and because your insolence has reached my ears,
I will put my hook in your nose
and my bit in your mouth,
and I will make you return
by the way you came.
God took the offense of his people as a personal offense! “Who is it you have ridiculed and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!” How amazing is that?!
He is saying “When my children come to me for help, I will take their cause and solve it by myself, because I can’t be insulted, no one will mock of the Holy King!”
I don’t know how many times people mocked you or questioned the power of God in your life, (like they did with Job as well) but He, the Holy of Israel, is watching over you.
He sees all the humiliation you are facing and He will take care of it!
Lay down all your sufferings, all the pain and insult, at His feet and trust His justice, because He will come for you.
He will give you a solution! Stay on your position and watch Him fighting for you! The One who take care of us never sleeps! He is coming to rescue us. Don’t loose heart!
Father, You know all the trials and offenses that your people are suffering right now; You see us, your children, and you care about our pain! Renew our faith in your deliverance, and help us to stand on our position while you come to our rescue and fight for us! Like the king Hezekiah, we are hoping in you, we know that you are our safe place, our refuge and hope. Visit every area of our lives that need restoration and deliverance, so we can testify about Your Grace and Power! In Jesus name, amen.

Hoje quero trazer uma reflexão sobre insultos!
Você já se sentiu insultado por alguma situação ou por alguém? Provavelmente sim, certo? E como você reage quando isso acontece?
Lembro-me de muitas vezes em que me senti insultada e tentei responder da mesma forma. Não é uma boa ideia!
Nossa primeira resposta a um insulto, na maioria das vezes, é ficar ofendido ou tentar retribuir! Mas hoje quero te ajudar a refletir a mudar sua reação!
No domingo, meu pastor compartilhou esta Palavra com a igreja e eu resolvi trazer esse tema aqui, para que possamos mudar nossa perspectiva sobre algumas adversidades que estamos sofrendo em nossas vidas agora.
Veja o que acontece em Isaías 36:
No décimo quarto ano do reinado de Ezequias, Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, atacou todas as cidades fortificadas de Judá e se apossou delas. 2 Então, de Láquis, o rei da Assíria enviou seu comandante com um grande exército a Jerusalém, ao rei Ezequias. Quando o comandante parou no aqueduto do açude superior, na estrada que leva ao campo do Lavandeiro, 3 o administrador do palácio, Eliaquim, filho de Hilquias, o secretário Sebna e o arquivista real Joá, filho de Asafe, foram ao encontro dele.
4 E o comandante de campo falou: “Digam a Ezequias:
“Assim diz o grande rei, o rei da Assíria: ‘Em que você está baseando essa sua confiança? 5 Você diz que tem estratégia e força militar; mas não passam de palavras vãs. Em quem você confia, para rebelar-se contra mim? 6 Pois veja! Agora você está confiando no Egito, aquela cana esmagada, que fura a mão de quem nela se apóia! Assim é o faraó, o rei do Egito, para todos os que dele dependem. 7 E se você me disser: “No Senhor, o nosso Deus, confiamos”; não são dele os altos e os altares que Ezequias removeu, dizendo a Judá e a Jerusalém: “Vocês devem adorar aqui, diante deste altar”?’
O povo foi afrontado pelo rei da Assíria. Senaqueribe não apenas afrontou Judá, mas também tentou minar sua esperança de ajuda, desde o Egito até (mesmo) de Deus:
‘Não deixem que Ezequias os engane quando diz que o Senhor os livrará. Alguma vez o deus de qualquer nação livrou sua terra das mãos do rei da Assíria? 19 Onde estão os deuses de Hamate e de Arpade? Onde estão os deuses de Sefarvaim? Eles livraram Samaria das minhas mãos? 20 Quem dentre todos os deuses dessas nações conseguiu livrar a sua terra? Como então o Senhor poderá livrar Jerusalém das minhas mãos?’”
Quantas vezes você já ouviu palavras semelhantes sobre sua situação? “Ninguém vai te ajudar, Deus não vai te livrar dessa , do contrário, Ele já teria agido” ou “você provavelmente está fazendo a coisa errada, é por isso que está nessa situação” ?
Haverá situações em que as pessoas tentarão dizer a você o que fazer, te apressarão a buscar uma solução. Eu já ouvi muitas vezes: “Por que você não está fazendo nada? Você deveria estar fazendo isso ou aquilo! Você não está se esforçando o suficiente” (Mas Deus estava me dizendo para esperar por sua intervenção)
O povo de Judá estava sendo ameaçado, e o rei da Assíria tentava minar toda a esperança deles no Senhor, comparando-O com os outros deuses que foram derrotados!
O inimigo faz a mesma coisa conosco: Ele tenta nos convencer a correr para os outros “deuses” ou a confiar na ajuda humana para nos tirar de uma situação desesperadora, sussurrando em nossos ouvidos: Deus não vai te ajudar como você pensa, você precisa agir! Faça alguma coisa!
No entanto, Ezequias, quando ouviu sobre a afronta decidiu correr para o Único que poderia livrá-los dessa situação desesperadora:
Quando o rei Ezequias soube disso, rasgou suas vestes, vestiu pano de saco e entrou no templo do Senhor. 2 Depois enviou o administrador do palácio, Eliaquim, o secretário Sebna e os chefes dos sacerdotes, todos vestidos de pano de saco, ao profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz, 3 com esta mensagem: “Assim diz Ezequias: Hoje é dia de angústia, de repreensão e de vergonha, como quando uma criança está a ponto de nascer e não há forças para dá-la à luz. 4 Talvez o Senhor, o seu Deus, ouça as palavras do comandante de campo, a quem o seu senhor, o rei da Assíria, enviou para zombar do Deus vivo. E que o Senhor, o seu Deus, o repreenda pelas palavras que ouviu. Portanto, ore pelo remanescente que ainda sobrevive”.
Em vez de entregar o reino ao rei da Assíria, deixando o desespero assumir o controle, ele correu para o templo, buscando primeiramente a Presença de Deus, clamando por Sua ajuda!
Isso é o que o Senhor respondeu, depois de Ezequias se humilhar perante Ele:
Então Isaías, filho de Amoz, enviou esta mensagem a Ezequias: “Assim diz o Senhor, Deus de Israel: ‘Ouvi a sua oração acerca de Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria. 22 Esta é a palavra que o Senhor falou contra ele:
“‘A Virgem Cidade[c] de Sião
despreza e zomba de você.
A cidade de Jerusalém meneia a cabeça
enquanto você foge.
23 De quem você zombou
e contra quem blasfemou?
Contra quem você ergueu a voz
e contra quem levantou
seu olhar arrogante?
Contra o Santo de Israel!
24 Sim, você insultou o Senhor
por meio dos seus mensageiros,
dizendo:
“Com carros sem conta
subi aos mais elevados
e inacessíveis cumes do Líbano.
Derrubei os seus cedros mais altos,
os seus melhores pinheiros.
Entrei em suas regiões mais remotas,
na melhor parte de suas florestas.
25 Em terras estrangeiras[d]
cavei poços e bebi água.
Com as solas dos meus pés
sequei todos os riachos do Egito”.
26 “‘Você não soube que há muito
eu já o havia ordenado,
que desde os dias da antigüidade
eu o havia planejado?
Agora eu o executo,
e faço você transformar
cidades fortificadas
em montões de pedra.
27 Os seus habitantes, já sem forças,
desanimam-se envergonhados.
São como pastagens,
como brotos tenros e verdes,
como capim no terraço,
queimado[e] antes de crescer.
28 “‘Eu, porém, sei onde você está,
quando sai e quando retorna,
e quando você se enfurece contra mim.
29 Sim, contra mim você se enfurece,
o seu atrevimento chegou
aos meus ouvidos;
por isso, porei o meu anzol em seu nariz
e o meu freio em sua boca,
e o farei voltar pelo caminho
por onde veio.
Deus encarou a ofensa de seu povo como uma ofensa pessoal! “Quem você ridicularizou e blasfemou? Contra quem você ergueu sua voz e ergueu seus olhos com orgulho? Contra o Santo de Israel! ”
Quão incrível é isso?! Ele está dizendo: “Quando meus filhos vierem até mim em busca de ajuda, vou assumir a causa deles e resolvê-la por mim mesmo, porque não posso ser insultado, ninguém vai zombar do Rei!”
Não sei quantas vezes as pessoas zombaram de você ou questionaram o poder do seu Deus (como fizeram com Jó também), mas Ele, o Santo de Israel, está cuidando de você.
Ele vê toda a humilhação que você tem sofrido, e vai cuidar disso!
Entregue tudo o que você está enfrentando aos pés Dele e seja paciente, porque Ele virá em seu auxílio! Ele te dará uma solução!
Mantenha a posição e observe-o lutando por você! Aquele que cuida de nós nunca dorme! Ele está vindo para nos resgatar.
Não desanime!
“Pai, Você conhece todas as provações e ofensas que seu povo está sofrendo agora; Você nos vê, seus filhos, e se preocupa com nossa dor! Renove nossa fé em sua libertação e ajude-nos a permanecer em nossa posição enquanto você vem em nosso resgate e luta por nós! Como o rei Ezequias, esperamos em Ti, sabemos que o Senhor é o nosso refúgio e socorro. Visite todas as áreas das nossas vidas que precisam de restauração e libertação, para que possamos testificar sobre Sua Graça e Poder! Em nome de Jesus, amém.
